Today, laparoscopic procedures are generally well accepted techniques in most specialties worldwide which is recommended by guidelines due to their many advantages over open surgeries.

The Minimally Invasive Surgery Research Center was established in 2010 and thanks to the efforts of Dr. Pazouki, it has obtained the certificate of Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Education in 2013.

It should be noted that during these years, the late Dr. Foodazi, Professor Ghavami and Dr. Jalali have provided a lot of help to the research center.

• The first elementary minimally invasive surgery course held by Dr. Pazouki and with cooperation of the President of Iran University of Medical Sciences and the Vice Chancellor for Education Dr. Latifi and former director of Rasoul Akram Hospital, Dr. Kadkhodai With the presence of a group of faculties including Dr. Kalbasi, Dr. Khalaj and Dr. Mishra from India, Professor of Minimally Invasive Surgery and head of Laparoscopic Hospital in New Delhi, in January 2005, in 5 days

• The Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Surgery Education for the first time in the region has started holding ATLS courses (advanced care of trauma patients) with some unique features as follows:
  • Benefit from the most prominent faculties in all lesson plan titles
  • Benefit from educational assistance facilities such as dry lab and animal lab
  • practical training and theory education at the same time
  • shortness of the courses
  • Submission of a valid certificate by the Center of Excellence at the end of the course

• Moreover this center has held many educational programs in the field of MIS, Trauma and Sonography for general surgeons, gynecologists, urologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic specialists, nurses, medical engineers and veterinarians with more than 500 participants of neighboring countries and more than 1000 indigenous participants.
• Release of scientific –research journal of “Annals of Bariatric Surgery” with 9 years’ experience and with the presence of prominent international specialists in the field of minimally invasive surgeries as the editorial board and reviewer of the journal
